BREAKING NEWS

Former President's Cup player Bradley Hughes has committed to play in the inaugural 2010 United States Match Play Championship, to be held June 29-July 3 at Pebble Creek Country Club in Taylors, South Carolina, just outside Greenville.  To date, Hughes is the highest-profile player to commit to the event.

In 1994, Hughes, originally from Australia, was named to the President's Cup team in 1994, representing the International team.  A former PGA Tour Player, Hughes also played on the Nationwide Tour, winning the 2004 Wichita Open.  He also is a two-time champion of the prestigious Australian Masters, winning in 1993 and 1998.

Eligibility and Seeding

All golfers, professional and amateur, male and female, are eligible to play. Those who have not reached their 18th birthday by the entry deadline must have their parent or legal guardian give permission for that player to play.

All players will play from the same set of tees.

Seeding for the match play portion of the event will be based upon the 36-hole stroke play qualifying scores on Tuesday, June 29 and Wednesday, June 30. The number of match play qualifiers will be based upon the total number of entrants, as described in The Championship. Ties for seeding purposes will be broken by using scores from #18 backwards, Wednesday. Ties for seeding purposes for the final match play spot eligible for a bye, if applicable, will be broken by sudden-death playoff. Ties for the final qualifying spot will be broken by sudden-death playoff immediately following play.
